Our Story

It started with a photo.

In 2018, my wife sent me a photo of an iKamper roof tent. I’d never seen a roof tent before, and I thought it looked amazing.

I’d long been a fan of outdoor and bushcraft YouTube channels, but that photo was the spark that set everything in motion. I knew I wanted to stop being a spectator and start having adventures of our own.

Then came the little car.

At the time, we lived in a small apartment, and a big off-roader wasn’t practical. It had to be something compact and usable every day.

After months of research, Suzuki announced the new Jimny for the UK. A small, capable, affordable 4×4 with huge charm. It felt like the perfect fit.

I was lucky enough to secure one in May 2019. From the moment I brought it home, I started crafting ways to make it a better camper. Creating storage solutions, designing accessories, and adding handmade leather touches to bring warmth and character to the interior.

Those early projects became the foundation for everything that followed.

Where frustration became design.

Out on solo camping trips, I realised something: chaos ruins camping. Every time I unpacked, there were loose items rolling around, tangled straps, gear buried under other gear. It made camp life stressful when it should’ve been peaceful.

So I started sketching ways to fix it. Rigid storage panels that could mount securely inside the Jimny and turn unused space into organised storage. The goal was simple: less faff, more freedom

Over time, my setup evolved. Packing got faster, space felt calmer, and I could hit the road knowing everything had its place.

The difference it made was huge. Not just at camp, but at home, where unpacking and re-packing became effortless.

That’s when I realised this wasn’t just a niche idea for a small 4×4, it was a universal problem with a universal solution. Everyone, from campers to tradespeople, wants gear that’s ready to go and a space that just works.

The obsession grew.

I started sharing my builds and adventures on Instagram and YouTube, connecting with others who loved the same little car and the freedom it represented.

My handcrafted leather accessories gained traction on Etsy, shipping worldwide, and I found myself designing more, always chasing better usability and better design.

Before long, what began as tinkering had turned into a growing community and a real business.

The YouTube channel passed 70,000 subscribers and 10 million views, but more importantly, it became a place where I shared my adventures and somewhere I could look back on these time in the years to come - amazingly it even inspired others with the same urge: to get out there.

Out There Equipped was born.

All of that experience, the crafting, the field testing, the long nights of refinement came together in one idea:

Build products that make life outdoors simpler, smarter, and more enjoyable.

From the first leather handle cover to the evolving ecosystem of rigid storage panels, Out There Equipped exists to help people get more from their adventures... whatever “adventure” means to them.

More than MOLLE.

Our storage systems are built on the proven MOLLE standard, but we’ve refined it for modern life. Precision-cut aluminium panels, cleaner design, and accessories that look as good as they perform.

This isn’t about military styling or tactical bravado. It’s about calm efficiency.

A modular storage system for real people who appreciate craftsmanship, heritage, and design that works quietly in the background.

We’re building an ecosystem that makes any setup... 4×4, camper, van, or workspace, organised, ready, and enjoyable to use.

OUT THERE is a reminder.

It’s a reminder I created for myself to spend less time in the workshop and more time in the wild. Because the best adventures don’t happen behind a workbench.

It’s not just a brand. It’s a mindset.

A promise that you’ll get out there, find your own rhythm, and maybe inspire someone else to do the same.

Thank you for being part of it.
