It started with a photo

In 2018, my wife sent me a photo of an iKamper roof tent. I’d never seen a roof tent before, and I thought it looked amazing.

I’d long been a fan of outdoor and bushcraft YouTube channels, but that photo was the spark that set everything in motion. I knew I wanted to stop being a spectator and start having adventures of our own.

Then came the little car

At the time, we lived in a small apartment, and a big off-roader wasn’t practical, especially since it would need to be our daily driver. I spent months researching, with no luck.

Then, in early 2019, Suzuki announced the new Jimny for the UK. A small, capable, affordable 4x4 with huge curb appeal. It felt like the perfect fit.

I was lucky enough to secure an automatic Jimny in May 2019. From the moment I brought it home, I started crafting ways to make it a better camper. Creating storage solutions, designing accessories, and adding touches like handmade leather handle covers to bring warmth and character to the interior.

We took our first trips and quickly fell in love with this little 4x4, quirks and all.

Then the obsession started

What began as tinkering became a passion. I shared my progress on Instagram, and soon connected with others in the Jimny community.

As my designs evolved, so did my confidence in their quality. I opened an Etsy store and started shipping my handcrafted leather work worldwide, earning Star Seller status and seeing my creations head to places I never imagined.

It wasn’t long before I started a YouTube channel to document my overnight camping trips. I thought it would be a great way to capture memories to look back on. Quiet stories of my journeys, with no talking, as I’m usually camping solo.

I never expected the channel to grow to over 74,000 subscribers and 10 million views!

Along the way, I discovered a love for filming, editing, and sharing the quiet joy of solo adventures.

Every now and then, I get messages from people saying my videos inspired them to take their first solo trip or finally head out on an adventure they’d been putting off. Hearing that never gets old.

The obsession led to this 

Out There Equipped is the next step in the journey. 

It’s the home for everything I create. From handcrafted leather goods to clever storage solutions. Everything exists for one reason; to help you make the most of your time outdoors. 

Out There is a reminder I created for myself, to spend less time in the workshop and more time in the wild. Because the best adventures don’t happen behind a workbench.

It's not just a brand. It’s a mindset. A promise that you’ll get out there, find your own adventure, and maybe inspire someone else to do the same.
